About

We are fully accredited conservation architects with a real love of working with older buildings of all shapes and sizes and designing new buildings with care and attention to detail.

Chambers Conservation Ltd was established in October 2015 to further a passion for working with historic buildings and sites.

Robert Chambers left his role as a partner at the multi-national firm Purcell to join the practice in January 2018. Bringing wide ranging experience of conservation projects and contemporary design in the historic environment, he is an AABC conservation accredited architect.

Rob’s expertise includes many cultural and public projects, for clients including National Museums Liverpool, the Wordsworth Trust, Cadw and Historic England as well as a track record of delivering ecclesiastical, residential, industrial heritage and hospitality projects. He has a particular passion and expertise for working with charities and trusts to help deliver projects and help to source funding for their delivery from grant giving bodies such as the Heritage Lottery Fund.

He has a deep-seated interest in the picturesque and the ruins (whether fake or real!) of the 18th century, follies and arcadian buildings of all kinds. He also enjoys running up and down a hill or two!

Jennifer Chambers established Chambers Conservation Ltd after 13 years with Donald Insall Associates in nearby Chester, following her chosen specialism in historic buildings work.  She qualified as an architect in 2002 and gained valuable experience in architectural design, specifying repair works and report writing. She is an RIBA SCA (Specialist Conservation Accredited) Architect.

Although interested in all building periods, Jennifer’s greatest passion is for Victorian and Edwardian architecture, in particular that of the Arts and Crafts Movement and associated with Industrial Heritage.  Jennifer particularly enjoys the attention to detail required when conserving, repairing and adapting churches. She is an active member of the Victorian Society (formerly sitting on the Northern Building Committee) and a full member of the Institute of Historic Building Conservation (IHBC).
