West Wing Project Overview

St. Beuno’s Jesuit Spirituality Centre is a grade II* listed complex of buildings and a registered landscape near Tremeirchion, Denbighshire.  The buildings have been in use by the Jesuit Church since they were built, starting life as a College, and latterly becoming a retreat house, welcoming visitors from around the world.

The practice, having initially developed a site-wide masterplan and Conservation Statement, led the £1.6m refurbishment, conservation and re-configuration of the West Wing. Works included conservation and repairs, creation of new community facilities, en-suite accommodation, office space and a new entrance.

St. Beuno’s Jesuit Spirituality Centre is a grade II* listed complex of buildings and a registered landscape near Tremeirchion, Denbighshire.  The buildings have been in use by the Jesuit Church since they were built, starting life as a College, and latterly becoming a retreat house, welcoming visitors from around the world.

The practice, having initially developed a site-wide masterplan and Conservation Statement, led the creation of a new, centrally located, district plant-room.  The contemporary structure uses natural, local, materials which are forming a strong palette for the new build elements on site. The walls are formed from a combination of dry-stone, sourced locally and Welsh larch cladding.  The building has a natural green roof, helping it bed comfortably into the sensitive landscape setting.
